Structure:
The eleven biological systems are the skeletal,
muscular,
digestive, circulatory,
respiratory, nervous,
reproductive, excretory, endocrine,
lymphatic, and the integumentary.
Seven of these are considered internal organs.
Function:
Groups of organs that cooperate in a variety of body functions are called
systems. Of the eleven biological systems, the nervous, circulatory, endocrine,
and the lymphatic systems are prominent, although not exclusive, in integrating
the functions of the remaining six. Homeostasis is the self-adjusting balance
in the function of the biological systems with the environment.
