Structure: The cerebrum is the lobed, front part of the brain, shared with the olfactory lobes. Along with the olfactory cortex, a motor cortex and a sensory cortex are the basic parts of the cerebrum. In amphibians, the cerebrum is poorly developed, but this part of the brain becomes more complex, with additional parts such as the thalamus, as animals becomes more complex.
Function: The cerebrum is the part of the brain associated with sensory inputs and with voluntary actions. Memory, and in advanced animals, emotions, are also located in the cerebrum.
