Structure: Posture is different for each order of animals because of the structure of the skeletal system, and the muscular attachments to it. Posture is the natural, or typical position that an animal has during rest, or with activities. The gross appearance of an animal is determined by its posture.
Function: Posture results from the action of muscles pulling on bones for keeping them in whatever position the animal chooses, even during sleep, or with the most vigorous motions or activities.
